Backend engineer, ten years in. I build payment gateways and core banking integrations, the kind of systems that aren't allowed to fall over.
I've spent ten years building Java and Spring Boot services on Kubernetes, mostly in payments and banking: mobile-money gateways, a telecoms payments platform and core banking integrations. When those systems break, people can't pay for things, so I write the tests first and take the slower, safer route when it matters. I write Go for fun and React with TypeScript when a project needs a frontend. I also spend a lot of time with junior developers, getting them onboarded, reviewing their code and helping them make test-driven development a habit.
